"The Wellington Fire/EMS Department provides both fire services and emergency medical services. The Department consists of the Fire/EMS Chief, 18 shift personnel and an Administrative/EMS Clerk. The Department works with three shifts. Shifts are comprised of six persons per shift. Assigned to each shift is an Assistant Chief, a Captain, and 4 Firefighters. All personnel are also certified as a Paramedic or EMT.

The Department operates out of one station and provides fire protection services to the City of Wellington, two fire districts, and 26 miles of the Kansas Turnpike/I-35. Included in the coverage area are main lines of the BNSF Railroad and the Union Pacific Railroad" - Wellington Fire/EMS Website
