The Riley Fire Department was established in 1923 as a volunteer department and remains volunteer today. The department currently has 16 volunteers who serve around 1,000 residents, over 10 businesses, and the U.S.D 378 Riley County School District. They provide mutual aid to surrounding departments and average around 25 fire calls a year.
