The South Hutchinson Fire Department is a combination department with two part time paid personnel covering responses from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Volunteers support the paid staff on larger incidents during the day. After hours, volunteer firefighters provide support. The department covers 2.5 sq. miles and a population of around 2,500. SHFD responds to around 425 calls/year.
